Description
Dimetrodon limbatus, a captivating apex predator of the Permian era (approximately 295-272 million years ago), boasted a sail-like structure on its back and a distinctive finned tail.
Despite being often mistaken for a dinosaur, it's actually a distant relative of mammals. With sharp teeth and impressive size, Dimetrodon ruled the ancient landscapes of North America, preying on smaller reptiles and amphibians.
Its sail likely played a role in thermoregulation or display.
