Description
Marble over life-size portrait head of a Roman noble female with heavy-lidded eyes, incised irises and articulated pupils, aquiline nose, lips indented at the corners, her centrally parted wavy hair drawn back over the top of her pierced ears. These characteristics have led several specialists to suggest that this may be a portrait of Livia, the wife of Augustus and mother of Tiberius. First half of the 1st century AD
