This is a multifunctional spool holder with the following properties:

• uses print in place bearings
• uses additional rails to be easily moved at smaller distances
• can be easily removed form the rails and placed elsewhere
• good stability / durability due to print orientation
• multiple spool holders can be used on the same rail

This spool holder is a little bit of everything. I wanted to create a solution, that can be mounted on most surfaces and used in different ways. The spool holder uses a rail-system that is mounted with screws on a surface like a board, wall, etc. The spool holder then can be easily place somewhere on the tracks from where it can be moved due to the integrated bearings. In the first place I wanted to use bearings and rails made of metal to attach the spool holder but the decided to take the challenge and try to make one only out of 3D-printed material. If you like the design, please read the printing-instructions carefully. The spool holder comes with two parts and the 3 bearings. Tolerances are quite tiny so everything holds together tight (use some instant-glue to hold the parts together)

Assembling:

Put together all the parts of the spool holder as shown on the pictures. Use some additional glue to get sure, everything holds together well. Now secure the rails with some screws on a surface. Make sure that the heads of the screws you’re using fit inside the wholes and don’t stand out from the rails. That could block the spool holder and prevent it from been moved around on the rails.
