Description
Mayan Ball Arena
When Townsmith announced this contest, my first inclination was to do something with negative space. That grew into the idea of doing an arena. Given my past pieces, it was only a short hop to the Mayan ballcourt. For those unaware with this piece of history (https://blogs.uoregon.edu/mesoinstitute/about/curriculum-unit-development/archaeology/ball-game/). Learning my way around Townbuilder2's basics took one afternoon, and the next two days were spent building and refining the design, showing how easy Townbuilder2 is to use. Most of the pieces involved use the Aztec theme, but there are also bits from desert, druid, castle, and medieval. To get everything printed in time, the 74 pieces were printed at 0.2mm layer height, using up nearly 8 spools of filament. Painting was done in my yellow sandstone style using a 1" brush.
