This leg was designed from scratch for a wyandotte chicken called Hopalong. Hopalong hatched from her egg on 19/03/2019 with a congenital deformity, missing a leg. Hopalongs mobility issues caused her to be trampled by her brothers, sisters and mother hen. She couldnt get food, water, or heat by herself and quickly lost condition. Her first owner didnt have the means to care for her, and on her third day of life she was adopted by her new family. She was close to death and required around the clock care with help to eat and drink to get her strength back. Today she is 3 1/2 weeks old doing very well, although she still has a phobia of outside grass, and of being left alone. Hopalong can hop very well - she has built up the muscles in her good leg, but is unable to do certain chooky tasks such as scratching in the dirt and scratching an itchy head.
This first prototype was tested with various filaments including pla and tpu. The best results so far come from using flexible filaform tpu with a shore rating 85A with 100% infill.
Hopalong will require regular updates to her prosthetic leg as she grows quickly. Keep an eye on this spaces for updates.

We found this chick with a broken leg and two mangled feet. We splinted the leg and now he gets around pretty well, walking on two stumps. Anyone interested in helping him acquire two feet?
