Descripción
This marble bust was probably made in the first hale of the 18th century Italy. This represents Heraclitus, a philosopher shown as an old man. The theme is common in the 18th century.
Bust in marble of Heraclitus shown as an old man with loose hair and beard, the head cast down is turned to the right, tears flow from his eyes. A rough skin cloak is carried over his left shoulder and caught under the breast with rope. The right shoulder exposed.

I always wondered how sculpts would look like if painted. This started when I was told that the sculpts in the metope of Parthenon where painted and what remains today is the decoloured marble after many ages.
