I've started to use 2.2 kilo filament spools for my gMax and I needed a trustable spool holder with low resistance which I could mount above my gMax. Designed this spool holder, and I'll soon add the filament guide (also using bearings) to be mounted on the gMax top frame.
Ive printed the mount in NGEN Clear to get a ridgid print with some durability, I guess PLA works good as well but make shure you'll get great layer bonding, so the spool doesn't crash down on your printer. The parts for the assembly sitting through the spool is printed in woodfill, since I had it loaded at that point. You'll need 22x8mm bearings for 8mm rods, and a 170mm long polished rod for everything to spin around!
