This chess set is designed especially for 3D printing in vase mode. This enables the pieces of one colour to be printed extremely fast and without a seam resulting in a very sleek looking set.
When printing them in the right order, most printers can even print them sequentially in a 4x4 grid. This takes just two hours and because of the sequential printing there's no stringing and still no seam. Just switch the colour out and print the other side!
To complement the modern and simplistic design of the pieces I also designed a layered transparent board with the black tiles sandwiched in between them (vector files are also incluided).
This set was specially designed by Robbert Bakker from the Netherlands for the board games spare parts challenge hosted by Sindoh on MyMiniFactory.
I printed the set with a 0.4mm nozzle, 0.6mm layer width and 3 solid base layers. Adding more base layers will make them more stable!
The set was printed at my work on a Dutchy 3D printer but any printer with sufficient clearence around the hotend will suffice
Good luck printing them and don't hesitate to share the photo's!
