3/4 body, 1:24 to 1:10 scale fantasy pin-up figurine.
This is my Patreon release for July 2022.
[Please be aware that my Patreon is on pause through August 2022 as I'm extremely busy at the moment, so there will be no August model release. See the announcement post for more information.]
This model was designed to be printable at smaller scales (1:24, or the equivalent of 75mm), but please note that my test print is at 1:10 scale, and the STLs are provided at that scale. If you want to print it at 1:24, just reduce the scale to 41.67%.
This model is provided cut and keyed ready for slicing and printing (see Printing Details). Custom supports for FDM printing are also provided for the head (some slicer-generated supports are also required).
The STL files are provided in the orientations I used for my successful test prints.
All of my test prints were sliced in Cura and printed on my FDM printer at 0.1mm layer height, unless otherwise noted. I used tree supports without support interface.
The details given apply to FDM, unless otherwise stated.
Note: This model should be printable at 1:24 scale (equivalent to 75mm). I test printed at 1:10 scale as usual, and the STLs are provided at 1:10 scale. If you want to try printing it at 1:24, just scale down to 41.67%.
Head
I recommend using the custom supports* for extra stability, with a brim. Needs a fair bit of support. It's orientated so the supports fall on less visible parts as much as possible. I blocked supports that were generated on the face and the front of the hood as I think it should print fine without supports in this orientation.
Body
Needs support under the plinth, the edge of the cape, and the elbow only. Everything else should print fine without supports. I used tree supports for this, but the elbow island didn't get enough support, and may have failed if I hadn't happened to be there. I'd recommend considering line support with support interface -- the line support will come up from the inside of the cloak, which won't be visible, but it may also touch the hip, which might cause a little surface damage.
Base
Shouldn't need any supports.
Bust
Use this version if you want to print with the head attached. There are a lot of trade-offs to consider, which is why I decided to separate the head.
*How to use custom supports in Cura:
You need to download the "Mesh Tools" plugin from the Cura Marketplace.
Import the STL file, right click the model and go to Mesh Tools > Split model into parts. Select each custom support, click on "Per Model Settings" on the left of the screen, and then choose "Print as support".
