Description
This satyr pouring wine in a cup is a Roman copy, dated to the second half of the 2nd century AD, of a bronze original attributed to Praxiteles. Many of its elements refer to Dyonysian rites, the ivy wreath, the ram's skin, the syrinx
(Pan flute) and the pedum (shepherd's crook), as well as the bunch of grapes in his right hand, added in a 16th century restoration.
