Happy Birthday to Felix the Cat. Since Felix is now 95 years old (born 1923 :) and available in the public domain since copyright has now expired, we are releasing a Felix the Cat collection. We created a whistling Felix, a laughing Felix, a walking Felix and more. We will upload the rest in the next few hours. (see the group photo shown). This Felix the Cat fridge magnet and ornament uses a 10mm x 3mm magnet that we purchased from Amazon in a pack of 100 for about $10. The magnet can be glued inside the hole in the back with super glue or Goop that we purchased at Home Depot. We also added a ornament hook so you can hang on your Christmas tree or wall. Change the filament color after you see that the side to side printing of the background (base) is completed (4 mm height) and the outline of Felix has completed one or two layers. We also added a thru-hole through the top of the ornament hook so you can use thread or fishing line to hang the ornament. Enjoy and Happy New Year from the IEC3dDesignWorks team.
We use Elmers glue stick on blue tape and then add a touch of hairspray (if warping is an issue) and mix the slurry together until white and tacky (no longer wet and slippery). This reduces any warping and curling on the edges of medium to large size base models (this base is 70 mm dia.), or on prints longer than 150 mm. Change the filament to the color of your choice after you see the printing is above the ornament hook / base level (4 mm) and the base has finished the side to side printing. Let one or two layers of Felix print before changing the filament. It takes about 50 minutes at standard quality (.20 resolution) to print complete and about 30 minutes to print the base.
