Description
Marble corner of a sarcophagus lid in the form of a male head with an exaggerated profile. The eyes are wide-open and articulated, set beneath a strong frowning browline, the lips parted with the upper row of teeth showing, the long hair deeply carved, swept back at the sides and falling in a large curl beside the jawline, the top section drawn up into a high quiff. 2nd century AD
